What should I
wear for my dance lessons?
Anything that is comfortable and allows freedom of movement will work
just fine. You might find it easier to wear the shoes that your going to
use when you dance. Sneakers are not generally recommended and are
sometimes difficult to move in on the hardwood floors.
Will I need a partner to take dance lessons?
No, most students in our group classes are primarily single, and partners are rotated
throughout the class if needed. During your private lessons, your
instructor may partner you.
Will I be asked to sign a long term contract?
Never. At Lexington Dance, we believe that our students keep coming
back because they are enjoying their lessons and are treated fairly. We
believe in a friendly, no pressure environment.
Is learning to dance difficult?
Dancing can be quite easy to learn. It will take time to learn like most
new things, but our instructors make learning easy and fun. A steady
approach with practice will produce results in a short period.
Am I too old to learn to dance?
Our students range in age from 6 to 86! Moving to a beat and
coordinating with your partner are things that are easily learned at any
age. Dancing is something that many people choose to begin later in
life. Anyone who is able to walk can dance.
How long does it take to learn how to dance?
It really depends on the individual, everyone can work at their own pace
and at the studio we will try to accommodate your every need.
I am very shy and am afraid that I'll feel self conscience about
dancing. Is this normal?
Everyone, including our professional instructors, started from the
beginning! Each time a new student begins their lessons, we remember
what our first lessons were like. Our students are constantly telling us
how many people compliment their dancing when out at a function. The
studio is a safe and supportive environment in which to learn to dance
and there is absolutely no reason to feel self-conscious.
How often should I take dance lessons?
That is entirely up to you. The average student takes a private lesson
about once a week, while others come in several times a week. We'll
develop a schedule to fit your goals.
Will I have a good teacher?
Yes, all of our instructors are very talented, qualified and most of all
friendly and helpful.
Why should I learn to dance?
Students have told us that besides learning to dance, they gain
self-confidence, heightened self-esteem, improved posture, friendships,
a place to socialize, and many other benefits. Each person finds that
dancing has helped them in different, yet similar ways.
